The Quapaw Quarter Spring Tour 2006!
Weekend of May 6th & 7th

Little Rock, Arkansas is beautiful in the Spring!  Take time out for a historic adventure.

 Quapaw Quarter Tour

Please join us at The Empress the 1st weekend in May for the bi-annual Quapaw Quarter Historic Tour of Homes.  Many of the elegant structures in the Historic District will delight your sense of historic fantasy this year.  This area was developed in the early 20th century as Little Rock residents began to settle in the hills to the north and west of the newly constructed Arkansas State Capitol.  Spectacular views of the Arkansas River and the capitol were principal attractions to developers and potential homebuyers.  This charming neighborhood reflects the popular, eclectic building tastes of the time, including Colonial Revival, Craftsman, Period Revival, and Minimal Traditional styles.

Quapaw Quarter Tour

Gather from the vision of those who will repeat the past as you enjoy a special weekend tour that includes the newly renovated Governor’s Mansion on Saturday followed by an Afternoon Tea there.  Next, tour goers will wander the streets surrounding the Mansion and visit several other beautifully restored and appointed private homes rarely opened to the public.  Refreshments and entertainment will be offered on the lawn of the F.O. Rogers House on 18th street.

On Sunday afternoon a guided tour by motor coach will cover a twelve block area.  You will begin at the Rosemont Historic Inn, with a walk through of this 125 year old home.  Several other homes on Arch, Broadway and Spring Street will be included, as well as refreshments of lemonade and homemade cookies in one of the garden areas.
